QUALITY MONTH
The quality of VET is not only a priority topic for the State Vocational Education Institute, but also an essential part of education and social development. Because the quality of VET affects young students as well as all adults in the process of reskilling or upskilling. The link between the labor market and quality VET is one of the most important factors for the economic development of the whole society.
“Quality assurance has many aspects and requires increased efforts from school management, as well as from teachers and other employees themselves. However, I am convinced that this effort translates into a better, more modern, and attractive offer for pupils, increasing its responsiveness to the current needs in the economy and also creating a healthy competitive environment.” Slavomir Partila, PNDr., State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Slovak Republic.

We also started the tradition of awarding the quality of VET last year. Through the National VET Quality Award we want to increase the prestige of VET in Slovakia, strengthen the motivation of teaching and non-teaching staff, to make visible their efforts, activities, and results, which they achieve a high level in ensuring the quality of VET.
Also this year, secondary vocational schools had the opportunity to boast good practice and exceptional results or approaches in quality assurance of VET. Schools could nominate or self-nominate themselves for the four categories of the National VET Quality Award 2023:
- Digital and green skills as a VET priority
- Professional staff development
- Promoting a lifelong approach in VET
